My friend david was in beckley for about 14 years so he knows quite a bit about it.You want me to ask him about it then copy and paste it to you if you want.Just give me a couple of questions to start with
Also david was moved from beckley to williamsburg in south carolina that is where I just went to visit him
From the way I hear all of you describe Morgantown, no matter how bad it may be it is the Ritz Carlton compared to Edgefield. By reputation, Edgefield is the least desirable of all of the camps. My son has been there since January. There is no such thing as E-mail or any other "amenities" that we have been able to determine. Visitation is only allowed every other week. There are no "educational" opportunities other than basic "How to Get a Job at McDonalds" and guitar for Dummies. While I hear others speak of 6 months in HWH, at Edgefield the norm seems to be 3 months but my son has just been given a HWH date of Jan. 5 which will give him one month HWH. Jan. 5 is one year to the day that he reported and a full month past his 10% date. When the case worker is questioned her reply to those who have family support thru visitors, money sent to the commissary account, etc., is that they are "privileged" and don't "need" the HWH time. Staff is rude most of the time and our Daughter in Law was told to leave when our 1 year old Granddaughter was considered too "active".
