Help Please!!!

Ok Ladies... I have a question for you. I took the really great advise of some of my fellow members and I signed up for a local (304) number through cips in order to save money on the phone calls. Only problem is my husband says the phones are still charging him the long distance rate that he was being charged when he called me directly to my phone in florida. Anyone know if maybe we are doing something wrong? I am not sure what to do and as you all know money is tight so saving every bit I can is important! He said he would try and talk to some of the guys there and also the phone lady but he wanted me to ask all of you as well. We are so new to all this and I am still trying to figure out all the little things. Any ideas or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Also, on a second note....My 7 year old is having a hard time missing her daddy especially at bed time cause she is so used to daddy tucking her in and giving her kisses at night. I though about maybe trying to record him while he is on the phone so that she could atleast here him every night tell her he loves her and to sleep tight. He tries to call each evening before bed but it is hard timing and well you guys know how that goes. If anyone has any other ideas please please let me know! Thanks everyone for your continuous support. This past week has been really hard on us so knowing your out there helps.

A New Family

Hey girls! I just wanted to say how much each and everyone of you means to me, and what a difference you have made in my life. The first time I went to visit my Stephen I felt so lonely. I was remembering that feeling when I was visiting this past weekend. I now feel like it is a welcoming place because I will most likely be seeing one of my new sisters. I can't express how much each and everyone of you means to me. It is hard to explain why, but just knowing others feel like I do about things, is liberating. I look very forward to getting on and seeing what you have to say, or finding out the latest on the bills before congress. I have come to know you in a very special way. I know that none of us would say we like being in this situation, but since we're here, it is nice to have a place to go, and friends waiting on you there...this blog is a God send to me....Thank you to LeeAnn for starting this up, and thanks to all of you who contribute...Love and Blessing, Becky

Instant Messaging

Hey all this is a follow up to the chat room, I cant believe I didn't think of this before but I have skype and its an instant message program and it's free to download. If you go to www.skype.com you can download it there and we can chat to each other while online. I thought this would be helpful for us all to ask questions and chat without going through email. If you sign up for it let me know and I will look for ya. TTYL and Take care.

March visit

As many of you know Debbie, myself, and others will be traveling up there the weekend of March 21st. Some of the children are celebrating birthdays that weekend. We will be having cake and ice cream with swimming at the resort pool Saturday night. Anyone who will be in the area is welcome to join us. Contact me directly for specifics. If you are celebrating a birthday let Kim O. know as she is incharge of the cake. We would not want to forget a name. We also kind of need to know how many to expect so we can have enough. Even though we are all going through this tough situation, the good things in life still occur and we need to embrace them. I hope see you there!

Where are the pictures?

Okay ladies, who took pictures? Share with the rest of us. I am so glad the visits went well! I know the first visit is very anxious, as it is the unknown. But, it is so good! I never met anyone who regretted visiting.

Home From First Visit

Hello All,
We have returned safely from our first visit with my husband. It was so beautiful to see him again. We had 4 wonderful days of re-connecting. Most of the visit was smooth and uneventful. Checking in was easier than I thought, and the baby did just fine. We got our pictures taken, talked, laughed, cried and spent way to much on the vending machines. When we got home, I found out that they are working on the bill with Rep. Davis on the 25th to get it introduced now that the stimulus bill is being signed. Seeing him there only made me want to work more diligently to get this done. I pray very hard for that to get passed just as fast as the stimulus package. I hope that everyone is doing well and that their Valentine's weekend was good.

Hello Everyone!

Hello, everyone! My name is Kim and I am new to this blog and unfortunately to this situation. My husband self surrendered to FCI Morgantown on February 13th. I was able to visit him the very next day on the 14th and 15th and was very lucky to have met a few of you wonderful ladies. I am very scared, sad, nervous, mad, upset, angry, and just about every other emotion a person can possibly feel. I have a 7 year old daughter and a 8 year old step-daughter. Like everyone else, my life has been turned upside down and inside out. I love my husband very very much and am 100% committed to standing by him and keeping our family together. We live very far away but are fortunate enough to have my inlaws in Pittsburgh PA, which is only about 45 minutes from the camp. I appreciate any and all advice at this point as I am completely clueless. I am still in shock over the costs and expenses of my husband being in there. The phone expenses alone are crazy!

Good Time bill - Rep Davis

Rumor has it that his office will not submit this bill until he has more support from the members of congress. If some would call his office in DC and see if this is true, it would be very helpful. I have a very full plate this week and will not be able to make a call till next week sometime.

That's Their Job

It is customary for the feds to monitor a group that gathers, whose loved ones are incarcerated at the same prison. I am sure it is for security reasons, and prudent on some levels. This is a public blog, and the feds are welcomed to read it. As long as it is clear that we are here just to support one another, there won't be a problem. If we begin discussing "inside Morgantown" BoP issues, then we may have a problem. As a group, in their eyes, we may be seen as a threat to their security. Clearly this could not be further from the truth, and they monitor us for that reason. I wouldn't worry. We're cool.

Happy Valentine's Weekend Ladies

I pray everyone enjoyed their Valentine weekend, especially those who were able to make it to Morgantown.  I went with a friend to see Revolutionary Road with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and then to dinner at the Red Bowl Asian restaurant. I was deeply disappointed with the movie, although the acting was superb! Kate totally lost the British accent. The storyline, however, was very dark and morose. I was delighted to see Alamance Crossing buzzing with people, almost crowded and it was a pleasure to stroll amongst them.  The sky was blue and sunny, the air was brisk and all in all, a wonderful experience.
Hugs,
Diane

Being Watched

Mike has warned me many times that we are being watched. We have done nothing wrong, but on the other hand we do not want to make issues for the guys. Keep a low profile at visitation, get together at a restaurant or hotel and cut up there. You can not help that the kids will visit at visitation, as they do not understand that they can't hang out with their friends. As long as the adults keep it under control and not let them start an indoor baseball game or something, you should be fine. They can play cards or something along those lines with each other. Have a great visit, I am watching for pictures ladies, I forgot my camera new years. Pictures will help us identify each other at future visits too. If you see someone that needs to join us, please get their info and give them ours, don't write it on a billboard, but feel free to share with the other loved ones.

First Visit

Hi Everyone,
This is my first blog, and our first visit with my husband this weekend. This has been a rough first of the week. I have a raging sinus infection that I let go too long. I had to go to doctor yesterday. Sunday my temp was 103. With 3 young ones at home and my hunny gone I have to get better quick. Our first visit with my hunny will be this weekend. I am still a little nervous that everything will go ok. We have to travel over 300 miles/about 5-6 hours. Something I have never done by myself and with never with a baby. So, pray hard girls. Thanks for everyone's advice and any more is well appreciated. Hope all of your visits this weekend will be happy and uneventful. P.S My hubby left in Sept. when our son was about 4 months and now he is 9 months. Been too long. Take care and God Bless!

Valentine's Weekend 09

Okay ladies...I will be at Morgantown this weekend from Saturday morning (or maybe late Friday night) until Monday afternoon. I really hope to meet you all that are going this weekend. I wonder how we are all going to recognize each other? Just wanted to send an updated message out since the V-day weekend is upon us. ((HUGS)))

Back after HWH

I thought I would just share with everyone what is bothering us right now. Chance was in Bates (RDAP) for only a few weeks but he met alot of the guys there. Well they say you automatically get 6 months HwH if you complete RDAP. Apparently that isn't 100% true. One of the guys left for Hwh and just came back to Morgantown because he was unable to find a job within 30days. That has been the biggest fear for Chance and I because they have to keep a job even while on SR. Does anyone have any idea of what your guys will do for work when they come home.

Chat Room?

How do you ladies feel about setting up a chat room? I think it would be nice to set up a day of the week for all of us to get on and catch up and chat about our loved ones. It's just an idea that I had. Let me know what you think and I can look into setting up a chat room.
xoxo Jamie

Introduce yourself.

Hi all. I am new to this blog and I am wanting to introduce my self and hope that everyone else will introduce themselves as well. My name is Jamie and my husband Gavin self surrendered to FCI MORGANTOWN on Oct/2008. He is in unit Gerard. So far it's not as bad as we expected. We do have good communication. Which is good for our two little girls. He will be coming home Nov 29 of this year. So for now we are just trying to get by. I am hoping to go visit him at the end of this month. We have only been able to visit him once and that was the weekend after Christmas. I am relieved to hear that his time in there is not so bad. We used to watch the real "prison" shows on t.v. before he went in and to be honest I was so scared for him. Luckily Morgantown is nothing like that. I just cant wait till all this is behind us, So we can move on with our lives. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Valentines

Okay guys what are we doing for our guys for valentines?

I will be sending Mike a couple of extra books and magazines and the kids are making him cards.
