SHU

One of our members is dealing with her loved one being in the SHU and they are looking at being transfered up. I don' t know much about that area of BoP policies. If any of you have experiences with the SHU or beign in transit and could share your experiences it may be helpful not only to her but, God forbid, one of us in the future.

Lee Ann, at the risk of sounding uninformed, what is SHU?

The SHu is where the guys are sent if they mes up. If they go to the Shu, most guys are shipped out. Morgantown is -0- tolerance, and if they make it in the SHU they are usually sent out shorlty after that. The process is not good. You can not talk to or find your loved one while in transit. The could transfer to several different instituions before you hear anything. There is no way to communicate. So tell your loved ones to watch their step.

Transfers can take several months and the have to go thru Oklahoma, which is not a nice place at all. All federal transfer's go thru Oklahoma. Not a good situation.

I suggest telling your men to keep their acts straight and don't be stupid in their decision making processes.

I do not know all the details. I was told that he has lost his visitation for 6 months and phone for 1 year.

Morgantown has a very long waiting list to get into. Being there is a privledge. You don't want your guy to be anywhere but there. It is a nice facility and very low security. We should all tell are men to hold off on the complaints because it could be alot worse.

Here is the # to Inmate Locate 202-307-3126....I can't remember how I got the # but I do remember how much trouble it was to get it...Before Chance was sentenced he was in transit for over a year...Once I got this number I called everyday if I didn't hear from Chance.
